Are VHaquarell paints suitable for beginners?
Yes, absolutely! Whether you're just starting out or already have experience – at VHaquarell you're guaranteed to find the right colors for you.
There are also many artists who offer free tutorials. Why not check out YouTube and practice along?
How big are the individual paint pots?
The 1/2 paint pots measure 1.8 cm × 1.5 cm × 1.0 cm (length × width × height).
💡 Lots of color:
The standard contents of a 1/2 paint pot are 2 ml when filled to maximum capacity.
Thanks to a special filling technique, an additional mound of color is created above the cup, increasing the total color content to 2.2 ml or more.
For comparison: Many manufacturers fill only 1.8 ml or less – VHaquarell, however, focuses on sustainability and maximum color fun!
This way you get more color than with conventional industrial paints, so you can enjoy your artwork for even longer!
How is the price determined?
At VHaquarell you will find exclusively handmade watercolor paints.
Unlike industrial manufacturing processes, the colors are mixed, processed, bottled and packaged by hand.
The special properties of each individual color and the high level of individual effort that contributes to your unique color experience require the use of selected materials and a lot of time – which is reflected in the price.
In direct comparison, VHaquarell's handmade watercolors offer 25–50% more paint than commercially produced paints. This is achieved by using the largest possible half-pans and applying an additional layer of paint on top of the pan. This requires two to three further layers of paint after the pan has already been completely filled.
Thanks to high-quality, rare pigments and special ingredients to avoid chemical binders and preservatives, unique watercolor paints are created that not only have a particularly high fill quantity, but are also supplied with personal inserts and bonus materials.
Although each color is made with great attention to detail and in the tradition of craftsmanship, VHaquarell places great value on fair prices – so that you can fully live out your passion for watercolor painting.
Are the colors harmful to health?
No, the colors from VHaquarell are safe for painting.
No chemical additives are used as binders or preservatives – instead, natural, biologically based ingredients are used.
Naturally, the colors are not suitable for consumption, and direct contact with mucous membranes should be avoided.
It is recommended that children be accompanied and guided while painting to ensure they use the paints safely and don't put them in their mouths. This way, nothing stands in the way of creative painting fun!
Are the handmade watercolors vegan?
VHaquarell's handmade watercolors are – depending on the color collection – either vegan or contain animal products (excluding honey).
Vegan: The Metallic and Chameleon color collections are completely free of honey and therefore 100% vegan.
Not vegan: The Honey Watercolor, Neon Colors and Limited Colors collections contain honey as an ingredient.
Those specifically looking for vegan paints will find an ideal selection in the metallic and chameleon collections – made without animal products.

On which materials are the colors suitable?

🔹 Exceptions: Metallic paints can be applied to certain pre-treated surfaces – however, this depends on the specific material treatment.
Are the colors waterproof after painting?

💡 Tips for protecting your artwork:
- Store pictures in a dry place, protected from moisture .
-
Avoid direct contact with water , as the colors may otherwise smudge or run.
- If needed, a fixative spray for watercolors can be used to better protect the artwork.
This way, watercolor paintings will last a long time!

Can I mix the colors with acrylic or oil paints?
❌ No, this is not recommended.
VHaquarell watercolors are not suitable for mixing with acrylic or oil paints. These types of paint have completely different properties.
Watercolor paints are water-soluble and require paper as a painting surface.
Acrylic and oil paints are based on oil- or plastic-containing binders and dry to a waterproof finish.
⚠️ Why should you avoid this?
Mixing these colors can lead to undesirable results because the pigments and binders do not combine properly. This can result in uneven application, poor adhesion, or changes in color as the paint dries.
🔹 Recommendation:
Watercolor paints are best used alone to make the most of their special properties and brilliant color gradients.
Can I mix the colors with other watercolors?
✅ Yes, absolutely!
VHaquarell's handmade watercolors can be easily mixed with other watercolors, opening up countless creative possibilities.
✨ Why is this so special?
These colors are characterized by intense pigmentation, unique textures and brilliant effects that make every work of art appear even more vibrant.
The interplay of different watercolor paints is an essential part of watercolor art and enables fascinating color gradients as well as individual nuances.
💡 Tip:
Simply try different mixtures to discover new, breathtaking shades – there are no limits to creativity!
Can I swap the colors in an existing set?
Thank you so much for your inquiry! 💛
Unfortunately, I cannot exchange colors in the existing sets, as all sets have already been lovingly pre-packaged and are considered promotional offers.
I ask for your understanding that individual changes are therefore not possible.
But: You can always put together your favorite colors yourself and create your very own personal set.
Thank you so much for your understanding and I look forward to your selection! 🌷
Are there any further details about your colors?
Yes – at VHaquarell I select each pigment with the utmost care and test it individually.
From the selection of color pigments to the composition of binders, every step follows a clear, responsible standard.
All pigments used have recognized safety certificates.
I deliberately avoid elaborate packaging – because for me, what matters is what's essential:
the purity, depth and quality of the color itself.
Because the Earth's resources are limited – and deserve to be used responsibly. 🌿
Can I visit your studio and see the manufacturing process on site?
Unfortunately, that's not possible at the moment. My studio is currently closed to visitors, and I'm not offering on-site pickup either.
I ask for your understanding – should this change in the future, I will gladly inform you!
Do you have any other tips for use and storage?
✅ Yes, definitely!
The colors of VHaquarell are particularly easy to activate:
Simply add a drop of water to the paint, wait about a minute, and you're ready to go!
💡 Storage tips for long shelf life:
Avoid light and moisture: Store paints in a dry place, protected from UV radiation.
Especially with honey and neon colors: Make sure that the colors are not directly touching each other to avoid sticking together.
Clean storage: Keep the paint box dry and clean to ensure the paints stay in top condition for as long as possible.
This allows you to use the colors optimally – for long-lasting enjoyment while painting!
