During the long-term production of handmade honey watercolor paints, some colors can be observed to develop pigment sedimentation.
Long-term material observations show that this behavior is different from the distinct separation of binders and pigments seen in some other material systems. Instead of the entire paint separating into layers, only a portion of the pigment particles gradually settles toward the bottom of the mixing container.
This behavior is observed only in certain colors and is not considered a characteristic of every honey watercolor paint.
Different colors may behave differently
Long-term observations indicate that individual colors do not always develop in the same way.
Some pigments have relatively higher particle density or greater particle weight, making them more likely to settle gradually while the material remains at rest.
Other colors remain comparatively well dispersed even after extended standing and show little or no noticeable sedimentation.
These differences form part of the natural variation between individual pigment systems.
Settled pigments may form compact deposits
As standing time increases, the settled pigments gradually accumulate near the bottom of the container.
Long-term material observations show that these deposits may become increasingly compact and, in some cases, develop into relatively firm pigment masses.
This phenomenon represents localized pigment sedimentation rather than a complete separation of the entire material system.
Periodic remixing helps maintain an even material distribution

Continued sedimentation has not generally been observed during natural drying
Unlike some metallic or chameleon watercolor systems, handmade honey watercolor paints have not generally shown continued pigment sedimentation after filling during the natural drying process.
Because relatively small quantities of paint are filled into individual pans, the material typically progresses into natural drying before further noticeable sedimentation develops.
Based on long-term observations to date, this behavior has not been commonly documented during the drying stage.
